We had a surge of over 400 new people sign the Anti EU Vitamin Directive Petition in the aftermath of Debbie Anderson and John Hammell's appearance yesterday on Gary Null's radio show, the second of the two Anti Codex shows that we did in the past two weeks in an effort to STOP the dangerous measure which could be finalized by the EU as early as March. Since what is happening inside the EU will impact Americans (and people world wide via its impact on CODEX), it is IMPERATIVE that MORE people sign the petition at http://www.laleva.cc and tell more people. I notice that even Jazz great Miles Davis has signed our petition, so we're having an impact finally, but we must maintain our momentum!

Codex Alimentarius means Code of Law for Food in Latin.
-The UN Codex Alimentarius Commission is and UN entity that is creating international trade standards to govern the international sale of all food products between countries, ostensibly for "consumer protection" and to foster increased trade by "harmonizing" all the countries laws in order to "make them all the same." Far from being an honest organization, Codex turns our whole system of representative government upside down. At Codex, we are allegedly being "represented" by Dr. Beth Yetley of the US FDA, an unelected bureaucrat who I have caught twice violating US laws at the Codex meeting. Congress has thus far reneged on an original agreement to hold an oversight hearing on the Codex vitamin issue due to This process poses a direct threat to the national sovereignty of all nations, and seriously threatens to force us into a totalitarian world government run by the corporations, for the corporations, and of the corporations. Unless you desire to be stripped of all the rights you currently enjoy under the US Constitution, or whatever country's constitution you live under that guarantees you certain rights, you'd better be very concerned and join in the growing global grass roots struggle for freedom. The Battle in Seattle was only the beginning.
Q: Can the WTO really pressure Congress into harmonizing our dietary supplement laws to grossly restrictive international standards that would severely limit my access to dietary supplements? Aren't we protected by a 19 USC 3512 (a)(1) ? I was told that this Federal Statute which implements the GATT trade agreement contains an exemption clause which protects our domestic laws from harmonization. Is that true?
A: Yes, it is "true", but only in theory, and on paper. It is "true" that the WTO can't DIRECTLY force us to harmonize our laws to an international standard, the way it happens is INDIRECTLY when the WTO's Dispute Settlement Body threatens to impose trade sanctions against broad segments of a countries economy unless that country agrees to harmonize its laws to an international standard (such as a finalized Codex vitamin standard.) Not even state and LOCAL laws are safe from harmonization to international standard.

The most recent example is the NAFTA Truck Ruling: A Dispute Settlement Panel ruled against the USA saying we had to let unsafe Mexican trucks roam freely throughout the US or else face trade sanctions. Several adverse rulings have been made against the USA which have caused Congress to harmonize our laws. We faced down armored personnel carriers in the street that we wouldn't let through by sitting down in the street with locked arms. They unleashed hell on us in the form of tear gas and rubber bullets, but we sent a message to our would be corporate slave masters: Don't Tread on Us-a message that we first sent King George in the last American Revolution, and here we are now, in the midst of a second Revolution- this time to not only save our sovereignty, but to help people world wide to also save their own as we are all one in this battle against the ruling elite.
AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY RESTORATION ACT HR 1146
Due to this threat to our sovereignty, Congressman Ron Paul introduced the American Sovereignty Restoration Act HR 1146 which would pull us completely out of the WTO, and save us from the Codex Threat to Vitamin Freedom. This Bill will be reintroduced in the new Congress, and it is imperative that you call your Congressman at 202-225-3121 to ask that he or she cosponsor it as soon as it is reintroduced in March or April of this new year. http://www.thelibertycommittee.org/
WHY BURTON SHOULD HOLD AN OVERSIGHT HEARING ON THE CODEX VITAMIN ISSUE
Congressman Dan Burton originally promised us an oversight hearing on the codex vitamin issue, but then backed off due to pressure from the Council for Responsible Nutrition http://www.crnusa.org/ This pharmaceutically dominated vitamin trade association does not represent the American people who urged passage of DSHEA, they represent multinational pharmaceutical interests that happen to also sell vitamins or vitamin raw materials. Hoffman La Roche is one of their members. They were fined a record $500 Million by the US Dept of Justice for engaging in illegal price fixing in the sale of vitamin raw materials.
On CRN's website in their press release section they currently have a very revealing press release announcing that the Trans Atlantic Business Dialogue announced its intention to "harmonize the vitamin regulations between the EU and the USA." http://www.crnusa.org/shellnr112000.html In this same press release they announce that the TABD urges the EU's Scientific Committee on Foods and the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board to collaborate in order to establish "Safe Upper Levels" for vitamins.
THE CAM OF "SAFE UPPER LIMITS"
IAHF warns vitamin consumers world wide that THIS is a SCAM: We can't trust pharmaceutical interests to "DEFINE" "Safe Upper Limits" when it comes to safe vitamins, because here is what they are trying to do: They're trying to ban consumer access to high potency vitamins and minerals, which we currently enjoy access to due to two US laws: The Proxmire Vitamin Act of 1976, and the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994. What they're trying to do via the TABD, TACD, via Codex, and via the National Academy of Sciences (a private entity that is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act so we can't get the CVs of the authors of their papers, or the raw data behind their papers, even when the government funds them) is to set us up for "harmonization" to a very restrictive, rapidly emerging, international standard. Like the NAS, the TABD and TACD are also not subject to the Freedom of Information Act, so there is no public accountability. IAHF has been unable to get any response from either JB Cordaro or Peter Heer of CRN regarding their press release about the TABD, and the TABD won't communicate either. FDA ONLY GIVES US TIL JAN 16 to FILE COMMENTS on CODEX VITAMIN ISSUE EVEN THOUGH NEXT MEETING NOT FOR 11 MONTHS!
Vitamin consumers must express outrage that the FDA is only giving consumers and small manufacturers until January 16th to file comments on the Codex vitamin issue when the next CCNFSDU meeting isn't for an another 11 months. Clearly, the FDA is trying to DISCOURAGE the American people, and the small manufacturers who can't afford tons of money for legal staffs to participate in the Codex process.

It doesn't seem like you are. WE NEED OVERSIGHT!!! Dr. Yetley is breaking the law at Codex. She ignored Congressman Burton's written demand that she NOT put the NAS paper titled "A Risk Assessment Model for Establishing Safe Upper Levels for Nutrients" on the table at Codex. John Hammell of IAHF shot videotape of Yetley IGNORING this letter at a pre meeting of the US Codex Delegation to the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Food for Special Dietary Use in Berlin in 1998. She has no right to take steps to harmonize our sovereign laws to what are clearly shaping up as unscientific, greed driven, pharmauceutically manipulated international standards. In a letter dated June 16, 2000 L.Robert Lake, Director of the Office of Regulations and Policy, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition disputed Hammell's contention that Yetley had violated the law, providing FDA's legal interpretation of what transpired. Hammell's videotape of Yetley ignoring Burton's letter has been posted on the web for the past several years, yet badly need Oversight hearings on the Codex vitamin issue have not been held to examine all of this closely. Interestingly, in his response to Hammell's legal questions, Lake clearly indicates a massive difference of legal opinion from Senator Hatch's aide Bruce Artim, who is apparently of the mistaken belief that the amendment that we got to the harmonization language of FDAMA protects us..... Artim needs to look CLOSELY at this. So does his boss Senator Hatch, and so does Congressman Burton, Chair of the Oversight Committee. They also must examine the fact that the FDA issued an email on December 21 to announce that January 16th would be the deadline for consumers and vitamin companies to submit comments for the next Codex vitamin meeting, even though the meeting won't be for another eleven months... Something not RIGHT with THIS picture! Clearly, FDA and Codex are trying to SET US UP for harmonization to a grossly restrictive international standard that they're trying to foist off on us under cover of darkness, with zero accountability.

The FDA has no right to directly violate the express will of Congress, yet they HAVE, and Congress MUST provide oversight for the people given that the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act was CLEARLY a piece of legislation that represents the WILL OF WE THE PEOPLE of AMERICA, and the FDA must answer to US, NOT the other way around. Since WHEN under our system of representative government are we the people represented by unelected bureaucrats? Since NAFTA and GATT passed, THATS when, and this is WRONG!!!!! Its NOT CONSTITUTIONAL, and we must be VIGILANT.
Unless consumers world wide can prevail upon the European Parliament NOT to accept the current, utterly unscientific EU Vitamin Directive http://www.laleva.org all 15 EU countries, including England, Sweden, and Holland, then using the threat of trade sanctions as a weapon
