Subject: Response to Lisa Garner at Young Living Essential Oils, YL Continuing to Mislead Distributors on Codex

IAHF List: If you are a network marketing vitamin distributor, or have any friends who are, please forward this to them. The ignorant response of Lisa Garner of Young Living Essential Oil is identical to numerous similar emails I've received from the front offices of several network marketing companies and you all need to be aware of the FLAWS in what they're saying.
If you are in YL, or any other network marketing vitamin company, you won't get the TRUTH on this issue from the front office of your company. You are being led like sheep to the cliff, but you CAN fight back IF you heed the simple advice in this email about what to do.....

Dear Joline,
I have spoken with Young Living's Legal Counsel, who has reported that we have, in fact, studied up on this issue and we are familiar with the groups that were mentioned. Wade Winegar, our chief legal counsel, met personally with ANH and their lawyers in London in his recent trip to Europe. We appreciate John's concern, and truly value his views, and still believe this is the appropriate response to our distributors. Clearly, there are more detailed sites out there and we are not attempting to be a source of information on Codex, FSD or any of these issues. We do our lobbying in the most effective way possible and will continue to do so. Again, the greatest influence an individual distributor will have is to expand their business. The bigger the business, the more likely it will be seen by lawmakers as part of our economy and something with which they don't bother.
I hope that this is helpful information for you. If you have further questions, please let me know. Have a great day!

Lisa:
I am sending this response to you out to thousands of people on the IAHF email distribution list, many of whom are network marketing distributors from various companies- all of whom are being misled in the same way. I'll also be discussing this on the air on numerous radio shows I'm doing on this issue.
If your legal counsel did in FACT meet with ANH and their lawyers in London, they came away with a very poor understanding of the situation facing Young Living, and have fallen for the SPIN emanating from CRN, IADSA, NNFA and AHPA on this issue.
These vitamin trade associations have turned their BACKS on consumers and are pushing very hard for one set of supplement regulations for the PLANET, at the EXPENSE of consumers. This information of mine is going to deeply anger a large number of Young Living distributors when they take the time to examine the truth of what I'm saying, and you and YLs legal counsel cannot afford to ignore this information:
Please take the time to read this article by Suzanne Harris, JD:
"WHO SAYS WHATEVER HAPPENS AT CODEX DOES NOT AFFECT US LAW- AND WHY DO THEY SAY IT?" http://www.thelawloft.com/Freedom/050125_us_law.htm
I just returned from Washington DC where I was part of a conference that was also attended by my very close friend Robert Verkerk, PhD, Exec Dir of the Alliance for Natural Health who I have been working with extensively for the past several years.
Verkerk, myself, Scott Tips (Legal Counsel to the National Health Federation), Brenna Hill (Exec Dir of the American Association for Health Freedom) and several other health freedom activists have just formed an umbrella group of health freedom organization to directly COUNTER IADSA, CRN, NNFA, and AHPA (whose advice your attorneys have UNWISELY adopted.)
This new organization is the Coalition for Health Freedom. All of us within it have been doing the heavy lifting on the Codex issue for many years, and our understanding of the issue eclipses that of your legal counsel by a wide margin and they should contact us to discuss this.
Young Living is NOT in fact lobbying in the most effective way possible, if YL WERE doing so, you would be strongly urging your distributors to help KILL the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) and the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)
The REASON you should help do this is because the FTAA threatens to destroy the United States in the same way that the UK is being subsumed into the European Union. All of our laws, including DSHEA, are being threatened by globalization. Rob Verkerk of ANH concurs with this assessment, and so does their legal counsel. The FTAA will create an equivalent to the European Common Market in our hemisphere, and the intention of those who are pushing this agenda is to create the Western Atlantic Union, a hemispheric equivalent to the EU.
A FAST TRACK VOTE on CAFTA will occur either in May or June. Please educate yourself on this issue by going to the following websites, both of which contain form letters that can be sent with a single mouse click to your Senators and Congressmen:
http://www.stoptheftaa.org/cafta/index.html
http://www.citizen.org/trade/cafta/
Please tell THIS to your legal counsel: According to a March 22, 2005 White Paper by attorney Justin J. Prochnow, "Of particular relevance to this discussion is Article 3 of the SPS Agreement, which reads "To harmonize sanitary and phytosanitary measures on as wide a basis as possible, Members SHALL based their food safety measures on international standards, guidelines and recommendations. "According to Prochnow: "These provisions, with the use of the word "SHALL" effectively make the "voluntary" Codex guidelines MANDATORY for member nations of the WTO, including the US."
Please tell THIS to your legal counsel: The identical SPS language contained in WTO is ALSO contained in NAFTA, CAFTA, and FTAA.
We have zero political leverage over the unelected bureaucrats that "represent" us at Codex meetings, and we won't be able to kill ratification of the mindlessly restrictive Codex vitamin standard in July, but we CAN kill CAFTA and FTAA in order to stop the broadening and deeping of the SCOPE and REACH of the SPS Agreement, and frankly Lisa, the FUTURE SURVIVAL of the BUSINESS of each and every YLEO distributor DEPENDS on this.
If YLEO fails to alert each and every one of its distributors to go to these websites
http://www.stoptheftaa.org/cafta/index.html
http://www.citizen.org/trade/cafta/ to help KILL CAFTA and FTAA, my recommendation is that they vote with their FEET by QUITTING YLEO.
The advice YLEO's legal counsel is giving to the YL distributors is seriously flawed. A group of distributors should band together to file a lawsuit against YLEO for not properly defending their business interests. The same should happen amongst the ranks of every network marketing vitamin company in the world that is making the collosal mistake of taking its cues on this issue from CRN, IADSA, NNFA, AHPA, CHFA and other sold out vitamin trade associations.
These trade associations are all being controlled at the top by pharma interests and by the biggest companies who are actively pulling the wool over the eyes of the innovative companies because they're taking the tack that they're "big enough to weather any storm".
The words of Martin Niemoller come to mind:
http://www.hoboes.com/html/FireBlade/Politics/niemoller.shtml
First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.
by Rev. Martin Niemoller, 1945
Network marketing vitamin companies will obviously say ANYTHING to sweep accurate political information which threatens the supplement industry under the rug. They do this due to an extremely myopic mindset geared towards not scaring off potential new distributors at all costs. This is mindless in the extreme, and is totally unacceptable. YLEO is on the edge of a cliff. Does YLEO want to survive? I ask this same question of all other network marketing vitamin companies. CRN, IADSA, NNFA, and AHPA are NOT your friends. The newly formed Coalition for Health Freedom ARE.
Your legal counsel met with the Alliance for Natural Health's legal counsel? If so, they came away with a very poor understanding of what is going on.
